Huffing

Huffing, known formally as gas harvesting, is the act of "mining" gas clouds using a Gas Cloud Scoop or a Gas Cloud Harvester.

J-Space

Gas is present in the form of Fullerite in multiple sites inside Wormholes. All of the gas sites in wormholes contain rats, and require them to be cleared or for other methods in order to huff safely.

High Huff

"High huffing" involves using the size of the gas clouds of bigger sites to your advantage to avoid getting hit by rats. This can be used for Bountiful, Vast, Instrumental, and Vital gas sites.


Procedures

  • Check the site for rats that have already spawned, as well as survey scan the gas and do a visual read on the grid. If there are rats already, you may have to use probes to create bookmarks. This is generally more complicated and would not even work if the gas cloud is reduced in any way.

    • If there are no rats, do this:

  • Bountiful/Vast - Burn 200 km upwards, just up until the edge of the gas cloud. Create a bookmark and save it.
  • Instrumental/Vital - Burn ~280-300 km upwards, just up until the edge of the gas cloud. Create a bookmark and save it.
    • NOTE: High huffing will not work if the gas clouds are reduced. Additionally, huffing gas that you cannot finish just before downtime is not advisable, as it will shrink the clouds once the server is up again.

    K-Space

    Mykoserocin gas sites are preferred for K-Space sites, as they do not contain rats. They are sparsely generated in Dronelands, however, an abundance of them can be found in lowsec, as well as Great Wildlands.
